ESPN Covers Steroid Issue in the Dominican Republic
BOCA DE NIGUA, Dominican Republic -- Waner Mateo was a time zone and a culture removed from his tropical homeland, an aspiring major league pitcher hunkered down in a Florida training camp, when he bungled his foray into performance-enhancing drugs. And so last March, in need of help for his bum right shoulder, the 21-year-old Mateo chose not to seek out a New York Mets trainer, for fear it might earn him a ticket back home to the Dominican Republic.

Dominicano Soy- Dominican Republic clinch Caribbean Series

The Dominican Republic's Aguilas Cibaeñas are the 2007 Caribbean Champions. In the picture Pablo Ozuna and Victor Mendez celebrate Dominican Republic's victory against Mexico to clinch the title. It's the 5th Caribbean title for the Aguilas and a record 16th for the Dominican Republic. All Caribbean titles won by the Aguilas has been in the past 10 years.

Aguilas flirting with Caribbean title
The Aguilas Cibaeñas not only tied Licey for Dominican titles, but they're one step closer to challenge the Tigres with their record Caribbean titles. The Dominican team has been unstoppable, clubbing host Puerto Rico and Venezuela in the last two games.

Dominican Republic leads the series early

Team Dominican Republic beat Venezuela in an 18-inning marathon last night -The longest game in Series history. That was followed by a very convincing 9-0 victory against Mexico today. That has the Dominicans with a 2-0 record to lead the series.
